Adelaide E-mail
Australia - South Australia

Adelaide is an elegant best laid out city in the land.
Wide streets, lots of squares and gardens, with wonderful sights to visit within an hours drive of the city.  It is close to an unusual outback, and two of the worlds greatest rail journeys converge here, the legendary Ghan and the Indian Pacific.

One thing I love about this town is its 700 restaurants are all housed on three streets which makes it easy to walk around and decide where you want to eat.   The climate is wonderful for outdoor dining.

The Barossa Valley produces some of the countries finest wines and holds some wonderful food and wine festivals.   The wine areas are all worth visiting. McLaren, Clare, Adelaide Hills and Coonawara all produce world class wines.  The Shiraz is outstanding.  60% of the wine exported comes from these wine regions.

Kangaroo Island is unique.  30% of its land is national park and it has been called
"Australias Zoo without Cages. You can see wildlife galore and lots of Koalas asleep in trees.  You can take a flight, or the ferry is a great trip.

The outback of South Australia is as remote and captivating as its more northern and better known counterpart, the Red Centre. Coober Pedy the opal mining town is built underground because of the high temperatures.   The only hotel there is worth a visit just for the experience and you can dig for your own opal. Take the train which goes to the Northern Territory and get off at Coober Pedy for a two night stay and jump on the next train out.
