Canterbury Museum is well worth a visit. It is housed in a historic building, and exhibits life in years gone by. It also has an excellent selection of Maori culture.

The Art Center and the Art Gallery are both excellent. The Art Center is in a historic building which used to the Canterbury University. Over 40 craft shops selling all made in New Zealand goods. A fantastic home made fudge shop.
